National Nursery Chains ranked by Ofsted grade

Our Watchsted team recently helped Nursery World to produce a league table of large nursery chains from across the country.

This league table gives an insight into the quality of the biggest nursery chains in England by comparing the latest Ofsted grades of the 20 largest chains, using data from more than 1000 inspections.

The Early Years sector were given an exclusive early preview of this league table at The Nursery World Business Summit this week. The summit focused on important trends affecting Early Years education and featured a wealth of high-profile speakers, including Sam Gyimah (Childcare and Education Minister and Gill Jones (Ofsted Deputy Early Education Director), amongst others.

The top nursery chains for 2015:

Kids 1st has retained its number one place, with all of its inspected nurseries graded outstanding.

Kids Planet is runner-up for the second year in a row, with nine of its nurseries outstanding, and the rest graded good.

Childbase is in third place, one position higher than last year after achieving three more outstanding grades in the last 12 months.

Children 1st is a new entry to this year’s table in fourth place, and the London Early Years Foundation is in fifth place.

Across the 20 groups this year’s average score is higher than last year — a sign that quality is continuing to rise.

Now that the The Nursery World Business Summit has finished, the tables are also available to download from the Nursery World website by following the link at the bottom of their article.
